How to Add the Indicator

  1. Open the linked TradingView publication and sign in to your TradingView account.
  2. Read the current description and release notes, then select Use on chart.
  3. Use standard candlesticks. Open the indicator settings and check the timeframe, visibility and retention controls relevant to this tool.
  4. Review historical examples before using the display in your own analysis. Chart capacity and market-data access depend on your TradingView account.

The strict three-candle rule

Read three consecutive candles as C1, C2 and C3. C2 is a swing high only when its high is strictly above both neighbours. It is a swing low only when its low is strictly below both neighbours. Equal neighbouring highs or lows do not qualify. The high and low tests are independent; an outside C2 candle may receive both markers.

Understand the one-bar delay

A marker appears only when C3 closes, but is drawn one candle back on C2. It identifies the pivot candle, not the time the information became available. The diamond was not available while C2 was forming. This is confirmation of a local structure, not an advance reversal forecast.

A simple example

If three consecutive highs are 100, 103 and 101, the middle candle qualifies as a swing high after the third closes. Highs of 100, 103 and 103 do not qualify because the final high equals the candidate. Apply the same strict comparison to lows in the opposite direction. These are illustrative values, not market quotes.

Colours and history

Gold diamonds mark swing highs and cyan diamonds mark swing lows by default. Inputs allow different colours and Tiny, Small or Normal size. History limits are 50, 100 or 200 total diamonds, with 100 as default. Both directions share the same rolling limit.

Marker spacing is cosmetic

The marker gap defaults to 0.10 of C2’s ATR(14), with a one-tick minimum. Raising the multiplier creates more space from the wick. ATR changes the drawing distance only; it does not filter swings or change which candle qualifies. Each created diamond keeps its calculated gap.

Use it for chart review

Compare successive confirmed local highs and lows on standard candlestick charts. Check the candles rather than assuming a marker is a major turning point. In sideways markets there may be many minor pivots. The visible count also depends on chart zoom and the available history.

What is outside its scope?

The tool does not classify HH/HL/LH/LL, supply buy/sell entries, predict the next move or calculate performance. It has no alerts. Changing symbol, timeframe, inputs or source data recalculates the indicator. Later data-provider revisions can affect historical results.

Before You Rely on a Chart Mark

Check when the information became available, which source timeframe it uses and whether the drawing records a historical pattern or an active state. Use the current TradingView publication as the reference for settings and release changes. None of these tools guarantees a market reaction or profitable result.
